June ramblings

Ahhh here we are in the first real month of Summer! Time for Friday night volleyball games, Pride Festivals, outdoor dining, yard work and more yard work, walking around the park two extra times just because and spending hours at the pool even though you know the sun is gonna getcha.

We are just in time for some of the madness to end and just in time for some to begin. Hillary Clinton will give a fond farewell to her Presidential campaign pursuit - maybe even tonight - and allow Obama to duke it out with Pops McCain. I hope that she has a shot at VP and it sounds like she would be interested in the position but I have my doubts that Obama wants a strong woman riding shotgun. Wait.....holding the shotgun might be a better way of putting it. She likes to take charge and that may just scare him too much. She was my candidate and now I play the waiting game like everyone else who will vote the Democratic ticket.

More madness just starting......did you hear the story about Lindsey Lohan and her new gal pal? Uh yeah!? Apparently she is a little gag-gag over her 20 something DJ BFF. I even heard a story where she wants to marry her pal now that it is legal in San Francisco. Wow.....that's just what we need for the cause isn't it folks? She's gay today but somewhere else tomorrow! No thanks Lindsey!

Pride festivals are heating up all over the nation and it will once again be our turn here in Cincinnati. I was looking at the events and it appears that we will be disappointed again. Poor funding or the lack of creativity in gathering more funds makes this Pride event rather sad. Still it is the only one we have and my friends and I will make the best of it and watch the 15 minute parade and then walk around and count the drag queens. Such is life in the big conservative city......

So what kind of madness do you have to look forward to this Summer?

Oh the good ole' summertime! We have been enjoying beautiful weather here in Boston, sunny,
70's, cool breeze then wham ~ our WBZ meterologist warned us of the impending doom ~ 90 degree weather starts Saturday and should last at least 4 days in a row ~ making it a true heat wave ~ you know where I'll be ~ in the comfort of AC wishing I could spend summers in Alaska!

Our June calendar is shaping up to include a visit with the family on the 7th to welcome our newest niece, Kendra Elise, to the family of now 3 girls. Boston Pride Week starts June 6 and wraps up on the 15th. (http://www.bostonpride.org) The big day for us will be Saturday the 14th with the Parade, Festival and Women's Block Party. I'm just hoping for good weather as last year it was rainy ~ makes for a bad hair day for this femme ~ lol.

June 21st we are going to a free concert on the Esplanade to see (drum roll please) David Cassidy...I know, I can hear the laughter already but adnit it, who doesn't remember running home after school to not only cath re-runs of the Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island but the Partridge Family as well? Guilty! Anyway, the people watching alone should be quite entertaining! And of course the Esplanade is in walking distance to our favorite watering hole, Laurel's.

I think that does it for June...oh yeah, I have to have an endoscopy on June 9th ~ fun times I'm sure!

xoxo

I agree. I don't think Miss Lindsay is doing much for the cause. Yikes.

Happy Pride Month! Northampton Mass Pride was a few weekends ago, Hartford is this weekend. Hope you enjoy your local events!

Uncle D and me - we're going to have a contingent in the Sacramento Pride parade for Natomas LGBTQ - you should hear the idea Uncle D had for the car - it's outrageous and we were told it's also approved, but any citations received by SPD are our responsibility.

I won't be but the Boston Pride parade starts every year with the ladies of Moving Violations rumbling down the streets on their bikes. So much fun to see.
